I'm hoping someone can shed a little light for me. I'm having a consistent problem of getting a nice boost, nice drift, then coming down backwards, sometimes fast and HARD. I've even cracked a couple ribs in the process. I have a good grasp on the load&pop, no problem going up, but the timing is all wrong somewhere.
So, the scenario is...I'm zipping along and spot a nice ramp. How aggressively should I be sending the kite? How aggressive and exactly when should the re-direct begin? Sometimes I over fly the kite, lose power, and drift back in the water like a dead fish. Coming from a windsurf background, I tend to approach my jumps as such. Pop the board, throw the rig into the wind and grab some lift. I have a feeling the key lies in how I square my shoulders when I leave the water.
I'm too old for the twisty-spinny stuff, I just want to land more jumps, I'm at about 40% success rate and some of them hurt!
